A Chartered Engineer with a BSc (Eng) in Aeronautics & Fluid Mechanics from Imperial College London and a Professional Diploma of Management, Open University, Tim has worked in the energy industry for nearly 30 years. He is a Member of the Energy Institute.
Starting in R&D with British Gas followed by several posts with the BG Industrial Sales department, including time as a Project Engineer in Technical Sales, he joined independent gas supplier Alliance Gas, a BP / Statoil joint venture, as Commercial Manager for the South West.
Moving to the Statoil UK head office in London, he streamline the Customer Operations and contributed to the strategic discussions within Statoil, particularly on e-commerce and the direction of retail sales in the I&C market.
Tim has also worked for TXU Energy, firstly as a Team Manager to develop a specialised Major accounts team, then with the Process Re-Design team on specific projects. On the takeover of TXU Retail, Tim was responsible for the transfer of the non-domestic gas accounts to the Powergen administration teams in Coventry and Nottingham before becoming an independent consultant.
With Sohn Associates he has contributed to many projects including the DTI Guide to Small Embedded Generators as well as advice to a local authority, a meter operator, a financial institution and a small energy supplier.
In addition, through Energyfactor, Tim has carried out over 50 assessments for the Carbon Trust, including Implementation Advice and Solution Development work and has a contract with CICS for the verification of CO2 emissions in 2 countries for the EU Emissions Trading Scheme.
