Brian is a Chartered Engineer with a degree in Fuel and Energy Engineering from Leeds University and a Masters in Applied Energy from Cranfield University with 25 years experience on strategic, environmental and regulatory issues across UK and European energy markets in the private and public sectors.
He spent over 15 years at Eastern Electricity, TXU Europe and Powergen, working in generation, trading, research, corporate strategy and regulatory departments. More recently he led Energy Saving Trustís policy research activities for four years determining its UK policy positions, informing business strategy and programme design through evidence-based research and robust analysis.
As an accomplished and adaptable business manager he has comprehensive expertise in relation to sustainable energy delivery frameworks and programme design including the energy supplier obligations.
Brian has a proven track record in planning and managing major projects to completion within agreed parameters to deliver robust solutions. His extensive analytical skills and commercial acumen ensure effective decision-making with the ability to influence strategic direction, lead development projects and deliver diverse and influential portfolio policy research projects including consultancy work for DECC/DTI, Defra, Powergen, CICS, Energy Saving Trust, Ecofys and the Environmental Change Institute.
